Woman convicted in 2021 deadly shooting at Birmingham gas station

A woman was convicted Thursday in a 2021 deadly shooting at a west Birmingham gas station.

A Jefferson County jury found Quarmica Lashun Colley, 45, guilty of murder in the death of 40-year-old Ogle Terrance Avery.

Colley was booked into the Jefferson County Jail following her conviction.

Jefferson County Circuit Judge Michael Streety has not yet announced a sentencing date.

The shooting happened at 8:18 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2021, at the Shell at 800 Third Avenue West.

West Precinct officers arrived to the find the victim lying in the roadway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:43 a.m.

Police said Colley and Avery knew each other and the shooting followed an altercation.

The case was prosecuted by Jefferson County deputy district attorneys Eric Hamilton and Blake Owens. Colley was represented by the Jefferson County Public Defender’s Office.
