Authorities searching for 12-year-old girl who left home in Opelika

Authorities are searching for a 12-year-old girl they say left her house late Tuesday night in Opelika.

Lorena Esavel Chavez-Lopes left her home in the 3000 Block Arnold Avenue around 10:54 p.m. Tuesday, police said Wednesday.

Lorena may have been headed in the direction of Dale Avenue.

She did not show up to school the next morning.

Lorena was described as 5-feet tall with black hair and brown eyes. She has a beauty mark on her right cheek near her mouth.
