51-year-old Jefferson County Jail inmate dies at hospital after found unresponsive

A Jefferson County Jail inmate died at a hospital on Monday.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the inmate as Brandon Wayne Parrish. He was 51 and lived in Hueytown.

Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Parrish was being held at the county jail in Bessemer when he became unresponsive from an apparent medical issue at 7:39 a.m. Monday.

He was taken to UAB Medical West where he was pronounced dead at 8:27 a.m.

An autopsy will be performed today to determine the cause and manner of death.

Parrish had been held in the jail since March 29, 2023, on domestic violence charges.
