North Alabama Greyhound bus crash: 1 dead, 8 injured

One person is dead after a crash involving a Greyhound bus in Limestone County where several people were injured.

WHNT is reporting that, according to Limestone County Coroner Mike West the crash happened about 10:16 p.m. Monday on Alabama 53 near Pinedale Road and Pulaski Pike.

According to a HEMSI spokesman, one person was pronounced dead at the scene and eight others were injured. The driver was later identified as the fatality.

The bus route began in Tallahassee, Fla., with a stop in Huntsville on the way to Nashville.

According to WAAY, four people were transported to Madison Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two were taken to Huntsville Hospital with serious injuries and two people had to be airlifted. As of Tuesday morning, six passengers have been treated and released.

The crash is being investigated by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

In a statement released to WAFF, Greyhound said it would “work closely with the relevant authorities on site to determine the exact circumstances of this accident.”

“We are shocked and saddened by this incident, and our thoughts and sympathy are with all who were involved, as well as their families. We are working at this time to give our full support to those affected by this accident,” the company said.
