Alabama High School Athletic Association soccer teams can begin play on Thursday with their ultimate goal a trip to the state championships in May. The AHSAA soccer coaches’ polls were released today, with eight of last season’s 10 champs leading the way.

The Class 7A 2023 champions were the Daphne boys and Sparkman girls – the only teams not to earn the No. 1 spots in the 2024 preseason polls. The other champs:

Class 6A – Fort Payne boys, Homewood girls.

Class 5A – John Carroll boys, Springville girls.

Class 4A – Bayside Academy boys, Westminster Christian girls.

Class 1A/3A – Tanner boys, Westminster-Oak Mountain girls.

The preseason No. 1 boys teams are Class 7A, Oak Mountain; Class 6A, Fort Payne; Class 5A, John Carroll; Class 4A, Bayside Academy; and Class 1A/3A Tanner.

The preseason No. 1 girls squads are Class 7A, Oak Mountain; Class 6A, Homewood; Class 5A, Springville; Class 4A, Westminster Christian; and Class 1A/3A, Westminster-Oak Mountain.
