Third suspect indicted in fatal shooting, robbery of man in Mobile driveway

A third suspect has been indicted in the robbery and murder of a man found shot to death in a Mobile driveway last year, prosecutors said Thursday.

A task force with the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office that deals with what the office deems as the county’s most dangerous defendants executed a search warrant Thursday afternoon on Ricki Thier, who was indicted earlier this month on a charge of felony murder in the March 2023 slaying of Michael Carmichael, the agency said.

Carmichael was robbed and fatally shot on Heron Drive in Mobile’s Birdville community.

Thier’s indictment comes after co-defendants Terry Raine III and Sincere Payne were also charged earlier this month, the DA’s office said.

“Our job is to pursue justice and hold those accountable for the crimes they commit to keep our communities the safest they can be,” said Mobile County DA Keith Blackwood in a statement.

Thier is being held in Mobile County Metro Jail without bond pending a court appearance.
