Large Huntsville subdivision could spur retail development, councilman says
Could a large subdivision proposed for the Limestone County portion of Huntsville lead to commercial and retail development in an area where there isn’t any?
District 5 City Councilman John Meredith believes that is the case. That is one reason why he supports the development of Greenbrier Preserve on almost 389 acres just off Interstate 565 near major employers such as Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, Amazon, Polaris. G.E. and Buffalo Rock.
“The fact that they are reserving areas for commercial use is huge because if you continue that out going east all of the way to Zierdt Road, there is absolutely no retail, no commercial anywhere on that strip,” the councilman said. “It’s going to be a vital development for that area.”
