Barbecue restaurant permanently closes in Pizitz Food Hall
Smoke Bistro, known for their smoked barbecue-flavored meats and flavorful sides, will permanently close its stall in the Pizitz Food Hall.
On the restaurant’s Instagram page, a post titled “[Farewell] Pizitz,” said, “I am choosing to consolidate restaurants as our food industry continues to rise in overall cost.”
“As of today, SMOKE Bistro, located inside of the Pizitz Food Hall is closed,” the post, written by owner Chef Raquel Ervin, continued. “SMOKE Bistro will eventually make a comeback, but in the meantime jump over to our growing location SLIDE Cafe. It has been a journey in 2023, but I am continuing to push forward. I appreciate those who faithfully support my business endeavors but also just me in general.”
SMOKE Bistro opened in the Pizitz Food Hall in May 2023 and featured menu items like marinated pork loin back ribs in Ervin’s special rub, chargrilled chicken thighs, a seasoned smoked turkey leg, slow-cooked beef brisket, and slow-roasted pork shoulder, five-cheese mac & cheese, Southern fried cabbage seasoned with spices and smoked turkey, potato salad, baked beans, cornbread served with honey crunch butter, and corn bites.
Ervin has another restaurant businesses on Birmingham’s Southside called SLIDE Café, which is known for slider sandwiches.
