Boil water notice issued for parts of Limestone County

Parts of Limestone County remain under a boil notice, and some residents have no water at all as the Limestone County Water & Sewer Authority tries to fix issues with local pipes.

Ardmore residents will have water for a few hours on Sunday, the town posted. Water from taps needs to be boiled before use.

On Facebook, the town said that cases of water will be available for pickup Sunday morning at the Ardmore Water Department building on Main Street.

Officials told WAFF News that the water system lost pressurization in the area due to extreme demand from usage, service line leaks, and main breaks.

“This led to a loss of pressure in the distribution system, which may cause backpressure, back-siphonage, or a net movement of water from outside the pipe to the inside through cracks, breaks, or joints in the distribution system that are common in all water systems,” the organization said in a news release. “Such a system failure carries with it a high potential that fecal contamination or other disease-causing organisms could enter the distribution system. These conditions may pose an imminent and substantial health endangerment to persons served by the system.”
