NFL playoffs: San Francisco slips past Green Bay

The San Francisco 49ers slipped past the Green Bay Packers 24-21 in an NFC Divisional Weekend game on Saturday night.

The 49ers took the lead on a 6-yard touchdown run by Christian McCaffrey with 1:07 left to play that capped a 12-play, 69-yard drive.

San Francisco linebacker Dre Greenlaw sealed the victory by intercepting a pass by Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love at the 49ers 42-yard line with 34 seconds remaining.

In a game that featured five lead changes, San Francisco scored the final 10 points to win. That streak could have been interrupted, but rookie kicker Anders Carlson missed a 41-yard field-goal attempt with 6:18 to play that would have extended Green Bay’s lead to seven points.

McCaffrey ran for 98 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries and caught seven passes for 30 yards.

The Packers got 108 rushing yards from Aaron Jones and two touchdown passes from Love, who was intercepted twice, both times by Greenlaw. The linebacker entered the game with three interceptions in his five NFL seasons.

Three players from Alabama high schools and colleges got on the field during the Green Bay-San Francisco game:

· Packers kicker Anders Carlson (Auburn) connected on a pair of 29-yard field goals and his only extra-point kick before his 41-yard field-goal attempt slipped past outside the left upright in the fourth quarter.

· Packers wide receiver Grant DuBose (Park Crossing, Miles) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Packers safety Rudy Ford (New Hope, Auburn) is on injured reserve and not eligible to play.

· Packers cornerback Zyon Gilbert (Jeff Davis) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Forty-Niners tight end Cameron Latu (Alabama) is on injured reserve and not eligible to play.

· Forty-Niners cornerback Darrell Luter Jr. (South Alabama) made two tackles on special teams.

· Packers offensive tackle Kadeem Telfort (UAB) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Packers defensive tackle Colby Wooden (Auburn) registered one quarterback hit and blocked a field-goal attempt. Wooden got his hand on a 48-yard field-goal attempt by Jake Moody with five seconds left in the first half.

A wild-card qualifier with a 9-8 regular-season record, Green Bay defeated the Dallas Cowboys 48-32 last week to open the playoffs.

San Francisco had a bye in the first round after earning the No. 1 seed for the NFC playoffs with a 12-5 record.

The 49ers will play the winner of Sunday’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Detroit Lions contest in the NFC Championship Game at 5:30 p.m. CST Jan. 28. FOX will televise the game.
