Trio charged in Tuscaloosa County shooting that killed 1, wounded 3

Three men have been arrested in an early-morning shooting that killed one person and injured several others at a Tuscaloosa County home.

Dallas Eugene Clark, 22, of Northport, Zachary Tyler Smith, 23, of Buhl, and Jarret Tyler Booth, 21, also of Buhl, are charged with one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit officials identified the slain victim as 20-year-old Cayden Nolen.

Sheriff’s deputies responded at 3 a.m. Saturday to the 11000 block of Pate Road in the Buhl community on a report of a shooting.

VCU Capt. Jack Kennedy said four people were wounded by gunfire.

Deputies attempted life-saving measures on Nolen but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Two other victims were hospitalized with critical wounds but are currently stable. A fourth victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Kennedy said the investigation shows the gunfire stemmed from an altercation.

All three suspects were identified, and then located in separate locations throughout Tuscaloosa County.

Investigators interviewed witnesses and the suspects and carried out multiple search warrants on Saturday.

The Tuscaloosa County District Attorney’s Office issued the warrants Saturday afternoon.

Kennedy said multiple other charges are pending.

Clark, Smith, and Booth are being held without bond in the Tuscaloosa County jail.
