This week’s ASWA high school basketball rankings feature two changes to No. 1 teams, both in boys action.

LaFayette is the boys new No. 1 team in Class 2A while Bessemer Academy earned the AISA top spot.

LaFayette (13-5) won two games since the previous rankings while Collinsville beat Gaston, but fell to unranked Fyffe in Area 12 play.

Bessemer Academy (15-1) beat previous No. 1 Lee-Scott 63-61 in a Saturday home game.

The girls top-ranked teams stayed the same with Class 7A Bob Jones, Class 6A Hazel Green, Class 5A Pleasant Grove, Class 4A Prattville Christian, Class 3A Lauderdale County, Class 2A Mars Hill Bible, Class 1A Spring Garden and AISA Glenwood retaining the No. 1 position.

Other No. 1 boys teams are Class 7A Huntsville, Class 6A Buckhorn, Class 5A Fairfield, Class 4A Hale County, Class 3A Sumter Central and Class 1A Covenant Christian.

Only girls Class 3A Lauderdale County remains undefeated among No. 1 teams with 21 straight wins to start the season.
