Madison police said one person is recovering after being shot Sunday night during an altercation at an apartment complex.

Capt. Terrell Cook said the incident happened at 7:15 p.m., at 101 Royal Drive, at the 900 building of The Elements of Madison apartments.

Investigators determined that a resident and another person exchanged gunfire in the building, with one bullet striking an uninvolved person.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery.
