Former Alabama running back Roydell Williams announces his transfer destination

Former Alabama running back Roydell Williams is transferring to Florida State, he announced in an interview Saturday afternoon.

“I did commit,” Williams told members of the Florida State media, who were asking Williams about his visit with Mike Norvell and the Seminoles over the weekend.

With Williams heading to Tallahassee, he becomes the fourth former Alabama player to transfer to Florida State during this transfer cycle. Before Williams, cornerback Earl Little II, offensive lineman Terrence Ferguson and wide receiver Malik Benson had also transferred to Florida State.

In four seasons with the Crimson Tide, Williams appeared in 45 games and tallied 234 carries for 1,165 yards and 11 touchdowns. Williams also added 152 yards and two scores on 21 receptions.

During the 2023 season, Williams recorded 111 carries for the Crimson Tide — a number that was more than double his carries from the previous two seasons combined.

With the departure of Williams and Jase McClellan, who is heading to the NFL Draft, Alabama’s running back room is set to return Justice Haynes, Jam Miller and Richard Young and will be adding signee Kevin Riley.
