Surge Entertainment Center coming to south Alabama

An entertainment chain co-owned by former NFL quarterback Drew Brees has set its sights on south Alabama for its newest location.

Surge Entertainment Center, which already has two locations in Alabama, will be “coming soon” to Mobile, according to the company’s website.

Local outlets have reported that the center will be inside a vacant spot next to Belk in Bel Air Mall. But the company has not yet confirmed where the location will be.

Surge didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment from AL.com on Saturday.

The company has two types of businesses: entertainment centers and adventure parks, according to their website. Entertainment centers can include laser tag, ropes courses and bowling, among other amenities. Adventure parks include more active activities like basketball, trampoline parks and dodgeball, among other features.

Both types of locations include food options and the capabilities to host small and large gatherings.

Mobile’s location will be classified as an entertainment center, according to the Surge website. When opened, it’ll be the third location in Alabama, after Opelika and Homewood, which have adventure park locations. The Mobile location is expected to be the first entertainment center outside of Louisiana.

Currently, the Fort Walton Beach Adventure Park the closest Surge location near Mobile.
