One month after transfer to Washington, former MSU QB back in transfer portal

After watching what former Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer did with Michael Penix Jr. after his transfer from Indiana, former Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers wanted a shot to follow suit. So Rogers transferred to Washington on Dec. 15.

But DeBoer has since left Washington — literally — and is set to be introduced as Alabama’s next head coach Saturday afternoon.

As such, Rogers will also look to move on from Washington before ever taking a snap for the Huskies.

Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported was the first to report that Rogers had entered his name back into the transfer portal Friday night.

Just he was when he dipped into the transfer portal the first time, Rogers is expected to be a hot commodity after starting 40 games during his four seasons at Mississippi State.

When Rogers departed Starkville in December, he left as the SEC’s No. 2 all-time passer as he tallied 12,315 yards, 96 touchdowns and 28 interceptions on 69.4% passing during his time with the Bulldogs.

Surely with DeBoer heading to Alabama, there will be talk of Rogers following the former Washington head coach to Tuscaloosa. However, with Alabama’s incumbent starter Jalen Milroe in the fold at Alabama, it’s uncertain whether Rogers will look to join such a crowded and competitive quarterback room.
