Basketball roundup: Vestavia Hills girls snap 18-year losing streak

Vestavia Hills earned its first girls basketball win over Hoover in 18 years with a 43-41 home victory in a matchup of Class 7A – and Area 5 – top five teams on Tuesday.

Junior Sarah Gordon was key for the third-ranked Rebels down the stretch, scoring 8 of her game-high 18 points in the final 3:56.

After fifth-ranked Hoover (14-6) had closed the margin to 35-34 on a Kamryn Lee basket from an assist by Khloe Ford with 4:35 left, Gordon scored 8 straight points for the Rebels (20-3).

Following Ford’s putback that made it 38-36, Gordon nailed a 3-pointer with 3:56 remaining, adding a 3-point play and fastbreak layup.

The 43-36 lead with 1:57 remaining would prove enough as the Rebels held on for the win despite a frantic Hoover comeback attempt led by Aaliyah Blanchard. She scored 5 straight points, the last coming on a basket and free throw with 17.9 seconds left, closing the gap to 43-41.

The Bucs got the ball back with 2.9 seconds after two missed free throws by the Rebels, but couldn’t convert.

Vestavia Hills sprinted to a 12-4 first quarter lead and Hoover played catchup the rest of the game.

Hoover closed the margin to 21-18 at the half, but the Rebels increased the lead to 34-28 heading into the final period.

Jill Gaylard scored 11 points for Vestavia Hills while Mallory Cowan scored 8 points and Grayson Hudgens grabbed 8 rebounds.

Ford and Blanchard each scored 10 points for Hoover.

Hoover 66, Tuscaloosa County 46

The fifth-ranked Class 7A Bucs rebounded from their loss at Vestavia Hills with the Area 5 home win over Tuscaloosa County on Thursday. Hoover led 15-11 after one quarter and 34-23 at the half. The Bucs carried a 54-36 margin into the fourth quarter.

Khloe Ford and Ariana Peagler led Hoover (15-6) with 19 points each. Kamryn Lee scored 10 in the win.

Hoover travels to Atlanta to take on Mount Paran Christian of Kennesaw, Ga., in the J4 Sports MLK Classic on Saturday.

Minor 61, Homewood 38

The Tigers rolled to the Class 6A, Area 9 home win on Tuesday.

Kayla Warren led Homewood (17-5, 1-1) with 14 points. Laine Litton added 7 in the loss.

Gardendale 63, Center Point 36

The Rockets picked up their first Class 6A, Area 11 win on the road on Tuesday.

Freshman Layla Berry exploded for 34 points and claimed 10 rebounds for Gardendale. Taylor Henry scored 10 in the win.

Chelsea 39, Spain Park 9

The eighth-ranked Class 7A Hornets rolled to a road win in an Area 6 game on Thursday to improve to 20-3 on the year.

Olivia Pryor led the winners with 10 points, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Hewitt-Trussville 82, Oak Mountain 18

The Class 7A No. 4 Huskies rolled over Oak Mountain in an Area 6 game at home on Tuesday to push their record to 18-5 on the season.

Jordan Hunter led the winners with 19 points and 8 assists. Ashlyn Howard scored 12 points and had 6 rebounds.

HUNTSVILLE/TENNESSEE VALLEY

Hazel Green 75, Lee-Huntsville 43

The top-ranked Class 6A Trojans led 16-10 after one quarter before jumping to a 37-15 halftime margin in the Area 16 game at Lee on Thursday. Hazel Green improved to 20-4 on the season and 5-0 in the area.

Kristen Johnson poured in 29 points to lead Hazel Green, including five 3-pointers. She scored 15 in the second half. Amiya Redus pitched in 14 points for the Trojans. Reagan Baeder added 8 points. Leah Brooks claimed 10 rebounds with 3 steals and 2 blocked shots. Sydney Steward had 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

Jayla Turner led Lee (14-9, 3-2) with 15 points, 12 in the second half. London Harris scored 9. Leading scorer Limaya Batimba was held to 6 points, with two field goals – one in each half.

Hazel Green travels to Washington, D.C., on Saturday for the St. James MLK Classic to play Immaculate Conception of Lodi, N.J. Lee will play Lift for Life Academy of St. Louis in the St. Louis Soulard MLK Classic on Saturday.

Bob Jones 66, Florence 31

The Class 7A top-ranked Patriots rolled over Florence on the road on Tuesday in an Area 8 contest.

Janiyah Bone led the winners with 14 points. Alana Obianozie finished with 11 points for Bob Jones.

Arab 66, Fairview 31

The Knights jumped out to a 24-3 lead in the first quarter and used a balanced attack to pick up the win at Fairview on Tuesday.

Maggie Chastain led Arab with 13 points. Lexi Mann and Julie Stapler scored 11 points each and Sydney Ferguson added 10. Mann grabbed 8 rebounds and Bryleigh Bodine had 7 assists.

Jayla Gorham and Davis Stidham scored 9 points each for Fairview.

Sand Rock 76, Fyffe 31

The eighth-ranked Class 2A Wildcats improved to 15-6 with the home Area 12 win Tuesday over Fyffe on a night when Katelyn St.Clair surpassed 2,000 points in her career. St.Clair poured in 36 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and had 5 steals and 5 assists.

Zoey Handy scored 15 points for Sand Rock with 8 rebounds. Chloe Stephens added 14 in the win.

The Wildcats play at Gaston on Friday in another area game.

On Monday, Sand Rock whipped Cedar Bluff 58-35 at home.

St.Clair led the winners with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists. Handy scored 16 points and claimed 9 rebounds with 3 steals. Stephens added 12 for Sand Rock.

Lee-Huntsville 68, Buckhorn 49

The Generals improved to 3-1 in Class 6A, Area 16 play with the home win on Tuesday. Lee broke away from a 13-all first quarter to a 32-18 lead at the half.

Kelis Silas led Lee, 14-8 overall and 3-1 in the area, with 13 points. Limaya Batimba and Morgan Pride added 12 each and Jayla Turnee scored 10.

Jasmine Montague scored 18 for Buckhorn (9-10, 0-3). Amya Kelly added 11 in the loss.

Lee will play in the St. Louis Soulard MLK Classic in St. Louis on Saturday.

Priceville 49, East Lawrence 36

The fifth-ranked Bulldogs improved to 13-9 overall and 4-1 in Class 4A, Area 15 home win. Priceville led 15-4 after one quarter, 33-16 at the half and 38-28 headed into the final period.

Gracin Prater and Abby Langlois recorded double-doubles for Priceville. Prater had 15 points with 10 rebounds, along with 5 steals and a pair of assists. Langlois scored 11 points and claimed 14 rebounds. Carly Nelson scored 11 points and had 8 rebounds. Lillyan Bloodworth had 8 rebounds to go with her 6 points.

Macey Austin led East Lawrence with 12 points.

Hartselle 61, Decatur 49

The ninth-ranked Class 6A Tigers picked up the win on Tuesday at Decatur to improve to 13-5 on the year.

Gracie Hill scored 24 points to lead Hartselle, scoring 16 in the first half and hitting four 3-point buckets in the Area 14 game. Hannah Burks scored 16 for the Tigers, 14 in the second half with a pair of 3-pointers. Anna Hampton Burroughs scored 11 in the win.

Amiah Jackson led Decatur with 9 points. Kimora Bailey, Jenny Mitchell, Carlee Mitchell and Jadience Smith all had 8 points in the loss.

Danville 41, Colbert Heights 34

The Hawks captured the Class 3A, Area 15 game at Colbert Heights in Tuscumbia on Thursday.

Adily Alberti led Danville with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Madalyn McCreless and Reagan Prater scored 8 points each.

On Tuesday, Danville topped Colbert County 53-47 at home in another area game.

Alberti scored 14 points to lead the Hawks. She also had 5 steals and 5 rebounds. Prater scored 10 points with 5 rebounds and 2 steals. McCreless added 7 points.

MOBILE/COASTAL ALABAMA

Daphne 42, Foley 27

La’Merrica Johnson had a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds as Daphne defeated Foley in a Class 7A, Area 2 game on Tuesday.

Kiera Watson had 10 points and five rebounds as the Trojans improved to 16-3.

The Lions fell to 11-5.

Alma Bryant 73, Baker 47

Sophomore Mari-Margret Grayson made 8-of-12 3-point attempts and finished with 27 points for the Hurricanes (14-6, 1-0 7A, Area 1). Sophomore Madi-Marie Grayson added 23 points. Saniya Johnson chipped in 9.

Alma Bryant travels to Davidson Friday night.

Gulf Shores 63, B.C. Rain 46

Keyona Royal had a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds as Gulf Shores outscored B.C.Rain 22-3 in the second quarter to cruise to the win.

Senior Maggie Myers scored 20, including four 3-pointers. Maya Griffin added 8 points, 4 assists and 4 steals.

Kiarra McPherson led the Red Raiders with 27.

Gulf Shores (18-5) plays at Elberta on Friday.

Fairhope 49, Cottage Hill 23

The Pirates rolled past Cottage Hill to a home win on Tuesday.

Cooper Anderson led Fairhope with 10 points. Ella Byrd finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds.

Fairhope begins play in Class 7A, Area 2 on Friday at Foley.

Jackson 43, T.R. Miller 36

Angel Powell scored 14 points and Tyra Caves had 13 points and 7 rebounds as Jackson improved to 17-2 overall.

The Aggies play Satsuma on Friday.

UMS-Wright 34, Orange Beach 27

Ansleigh Ishee led all scorers with 12 points and Noel Freeman pulled down 10 rebounds as UMS-Wright won a key Class 4A, Area 1 game on the road.

The Bulldogs improved to 16-6 overall, while the Makos fell to 11-12.

“I’ve got a tremendous amount of respect for coach Mike Chase at Orange Beach,” UMS coach Terry Canova said. “He’s an outstanding coach, and he’ll do a great job there. They’ve played a brutal schedule, and their record is not indicative of how good they are. Going into their place last night and getting that win was huge.

“Everything we do here at UMS-Wright starts with a defensive plan. That was a big concern for us last night. Orange Beach made 12 3-pointers a couple nights ago in their first area game at St Michael. Last night, we held them to one. Hats off to the effort from our girls last night. It was a gutsy gritty win.”

Davidson 51, Mary G. Montgomery 18

Jenice Adjessom scored 18 points as Davidson improved to 17-5 overall and 2-0 in Class 7A, Area 1 play.

Andinique Washington and Carson Dozier each scored 11 for the Warriors, who host Alma Bryant on Friday.

McGill-Toolen 56, Baldwin County 18

McGill-Toolen jumped to a 24-4 first-quarter lead on the way to the Class 6A, Area 2 win at Baldwin County on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets improved to 14-7 overall and 2-0 in the area.

Freshman Reagan Burroughs notched a double-double in the win. Burroughs scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Albanie Dixon scored 11 for the Yellow Jackets and Makayla Johnson added 10.

McGill plays another area game on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Spanish Fort.

Williamson 61, Elberta 13

The Lions rolled to the Class 5A, Area 1 win over Elberta on Tuesday at home.

Paydon Davis poured in 35 points and made 12 steals in the rout. Jayla Lewis had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Washington County 62, St. Luke’s 46

The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 in Class 2A, Area 1 with the win over St. Luke’s on Thursday.

Tymiah Burroughs scored 22 points for Washington County. She also had 6 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 assists. Mia White scored 19 points with 5 assists and 4 steals. Shaquondra Holcombe finished with a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

On Tuesday, Washington County beat Chickasaw 59-26 at home to open area play. Holcombe led the Bulldogs with a double-double, scoring 20 points and claiming 10 rebounds.

Burroughs also had a double-double with 15 points and 13 steals. She also had 4 rebounds and 3 assists. White scored 17 points with 8 assists and 5 steals for Washington County.

St. James 76, Alabama Christian 24

Senior guard Ava Card became the second-leading scorer in St. James history on Tuesday, scoring her 2,000th point in the home win. Card poured in 36 points to become the second all-time leading scorer behind Class of 1989 standout Leslie Claybrook.

Natalie Barton scored 14 points in the Class 3A, Area 6 win for the Trojans (16-4). Morgan Lilly and Kaitlin Mitchell scored 9 points each.

Jaide Newkirk scored 11 points for Alabama Christian.

St. James hosts Montgomery Academy in another area game on Friday.

Prattville Christian 78, BTW Magnet 12

Top-ranked Class 4A Prattville Christian rolled to a big Area 5 win at Booker T. Washington Magnet of Montgomery on Tuesday.

Kayden Carr led the Panthers with 24 points. She also contributed 6 steals, 5 assists and 5 rebounds – all in the first half. Carr has hit a school-record 368 3-point shots, surpassing Peyton Meadows’ 365.

Leah Cate Wilson scored 11 points in the win. Jenna McClendon scored 8 points. Baylee Rogers had 7 points and 5 rebounds while Ally Blankinchip had 6 steals and 4 rebounds.

PCA is 16-4 and 1-0 in the area and will host Dallas County in another area game on Friday.

Georgiana 61, J.F. Shields 52

The Panthers improved to 7-6 overall and 3-0 in Class 1A, Area 3 play with the win over J.F. Shields at Beatrice on Tuesday.

Lilly Boggan scored 16 points and claimed 10 rebounds with 6 assists for Georgiana. Nyeashia Thomas also had a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Grace Bradley scored 14 in the win. Lillyana Vargas added 12 for the Panthers.

Brantley 47, Kinston 41

The Bulldogs picked up the Class 1A, Area 2 win at Florala on Thursday with a pair of players registering double-double efforts.

Alex Grimes led Brantley with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Myia Mount had 10 points with 15 rebounds. Coco Stamps scored 13 points with 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals.

Florala 62, Brantley 61

Florala edged Brantley at home on Tuesday in a Class 1A, Area 2 contest.

Alex Grimes poured in 32 points, with 6 rebounds and 4 steals in the loss. Anna Parker Little finished with 13 points and 5 rebounds for Brantley (7-5).

Providence Christian picked up the road win on Tuesday.

Kaci Armistead led Montgomery Academy with 15 points. Caroline Waller added 14.

Lakeside School 52, Crenshaw Christian 11

The seventh-ranked Chiefs rolled to the win on Thursday.

Chloe Helms scored 23 points and had 4 steals with 3 assists. Sophie Seaborn scored 14 points with 5 assists and 5 steals.

Lakeside improved to 8-10 on the year.

Carroll-Ozark 38, Charles Henderson 34

Zymirria Glanton sealed the game with a pair of late free throws for Carroll in a Wednesday game at Charles Henderson in Troy. Glanton led the Eagles with 16 points.

Taliyah Carter scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds for the winners. Makynzye Bonner hit two 3-pointers in a row to give Carroll its first lead of the game with 2 minutes left.

Carroll is 12-5 and 2-0 in Class 5A, Area 4. The Eagles play another area game at Greenville on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

BIRMINGHAM

Mountain Brook 87, Woodlawn 49

Tyler Davis picked up his 100th career win at Mountain Brook with the Class 6A, Area 10 home win on Tuesday. Davis is 100-25 leading the Spartans with a state championship in 2021 and a runner-up finish last season.

Four players scored in double figures in the rout.

Ty Davis led Mountain Brook with 27 points. He also had 6 assists and 4 rebounds. Carson Romero scored 13 with 3 rebounds. John Carwie scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Trey Davis added 10 points and had 3 steals.

Hoover 63, Vestavia Hills 45

The second-ranked Class 7A Bucs jumped to a 26-13 first-quarter lead and coasted past Vestavia Hills on the road on Tuesday in an Area 5 game. Hoover led 42-28 at the half and 52-37 after three periods.

Salim London led the Bucs with 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Jarett Fairley scored 18 points, claimed 5 rebounds and had 4 assists. DeWayne Brown scored 10 points in the win and had 9 rebounds.

Jackson Weaver led fifth-ranked Vestavia Hills with 19 points.

On Thursday, Hoover whipped Tuscaloosa County 68-36 to improve to 20-2 on the year and 3-0 in the area. London led the winners with 38 points. He also had 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Brown scored 8 points and claimed 8 rebounds.

Vestavia Hills 58, Thompson 45

The Rebels improve to 17-4 and 2-1 in Class 7A, Area 5 with the win at home over Thompson.

Adam Barksdale led Vestavia Hills with 12 points. Jackson Weaver added 11 in the win.

Hewitt-Trussville 68, Oak Mountain 57

The Huskies improved to 16-6 and 2-0 in Class 7A, Area 6 play with the home win on Tuesday.

Ben Warren poured in 30 points, hitting 8-of-11 of his shots from behind the 3-point arc. Reid Stodghill scored 14 for Hewitt-Trussville and grabbed 7 rebounds.

Hewitt will host area foe Spain Park on Friday.

Tarrant 92, Cleveland 33

The Wildcats (11-6) rolled to the home win on Tuesday with four players scoring in double figures.

Taylen Johnson led the balanced attack with 15 points. Andre Raines, Jalen Marshall and John Scott scored 13 points apiece in the win.

On Friday, Tarrant fell 50-41 at Cornerstone. Antonio Caldwell led Tarrant with 14 points.

Fairfield 71, Wenonah 64

Top-ranked Class 5A Fairfield knocked off Wenonah on the road on Tuesday to improve to 17-2 on the season.

Senior Jody Jones led Fairfield with 24 points. The Tigers got 13 points and 4 rebounds from MJ Jones. DeMarcus Williams scored 12 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and had 4 assists in the win.

Fairfield plays at John Carroll on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in another Class 5A, Area 9 contest.

Midfield 66, Childersburg 55

The third-ranked Class 3A Patriots beat Childersburg on the road Thursday to get an Area 9 win and improve to 12-7 on the year.

Armonie Franklin notched a double-double for Midfield, scoring 17 points with 10 assists, 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Brandon Riddle pitched in 19 points with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Aaron Adams-Martin finished with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Gardendale 62, Center Point 51

The Rockets improved to 11-6 on the season with the Class 6A, Area 11 win on Tuesday at Center Point.

Brayden Duckworth scored 15 points to lead Gardendale. Xander Moore added 9.

Pinson Valley 58, Mortimer Jordan 49

The Indians won the Class 6A, Area 12 game at home on Tuesday.

Tanner Chandler led Mortimer Jordan with 21 points. Coleman Maldonado scored 12 and Seth Watkins added 11.

HUNTSVILLE/TENNESSEE VALLEY

Huntsville 84, Albertville 54

The No. 1-ranked Crimson Panthers routed area foe Albertville on the road on Tuesday in Class 7A, Area 7 play. Huntsville has won 19 games in a row, with its lone loss coming on the road at Monteverde Academy in November.

Mr. Basketball candidate Caleb Harrison scored a career-high 36 points, hitting 16-of-20 shots from the floor. The 6-foot-10 Samford signee finished with 5 rebounds. John David Gossett scored 13 points, claimed 7 rebounds and had 6 assists in the win. Simon Walker scored 11 and had 5 rebounds. Josh Bowman came off the bench and had 8 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

Huntsville (22-1, 2-0) had 21 assists and 5 turnovers. The Panthers held the Aggies to 4-for-14 shooting on 3-point attempts.

Sam Barclift led No. 9 Albertville (18-4, 1-2) with 13 points. Tyler Snider came off the bench to score 10 points.

Huntsville will host Sparkman on Friday while Albertville hosts Grissom, both Area 7 games.

Buckhorn 74, Lee-Huntsville 49

The top-ranked Class 6A Bucks pulled away with a big second quarter to pick up the win on the road at Lee on Tuesday. Buckhorn led 21-14 after one quarter and outdistanced the Generals 23-4 in the second for a 44-18 halftime advantage.

Jackson Ramsey led Buckhorn with 18 points, hitting 6-of-7 from the floor, including 5-of-6 on 3-pointers. Caleb Holt scored 17 points and claimed 11 rebounds. Jeremiah Wilson scored 15, hitting 7-of-11 shots, and Fredrick Derrick added 12 points on 4-for-6 shooting. Austen Childress grabbed 6 rebounds.

Namon Hobson led Lee with 13 points with 6 rebounds. Ke’shawn Watkins finished with 12 and 6 rebounds.

Decatur Heritage 58, Falkville 54

The ninth-ranked Class 2A Eagles won the Area 13 road game over Falkville on Tuesday to improve to 3-0 in the area. Decatur Heritage led 15-12 after one period, but trailed 29-28 at the half and 40-39 headed into the final quarter.

Brady Wilson poured in 35 points to lead DHCA. He also grabbed 18 rebounds and had 2 steals. Nash Thomas scored 13 and had 6 rebounds. Hayden Page had 7 assists and 6 rebounds to go with 6 points.

Eli Harris led Falkville with 13 points. Dawson Fowler added 12.

Sparkman 79, Oakwood Adventist 58

The Senators (7-15) snapped a three-game losing streak with the home win on Monday.

Makhi Hammond led Sparkman with 17 points. Caleb Lightford scored 12 and Orlandis Beale had 10.

Jadon Williams led the Mustangs with 16 points. Will Lee added 12.

Albertville 65, Etowah 50

The ninth-ranked Aggies rolled to the win at Etowah on Friday. Albertville led 22-11 after one period, 33-26 at the half and 54-39 headed into the fourth quarter. Eleven of 12 Aggies scored in the win.

Keandre Yancey notched a double-double for Albertville, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Cooper Colvin scored 10 points and had 4 rebounds. Hunter Smith and Sam Barclift added 8 points apiece.

Hartselle 53, Decatur 32

The Tigers used a 17-4 second quarter to pull to a 26-9 halftime lead at Decatur on Tuesday.

Ty Odom led Hartselle with 16 points – 9 in the second half – in the Class 6A, Area 14 win. Rylan Smothers scored 11 as did Markus Tapscott, who got all his points in the second half. Kohl Key added 8 for the Tigers.

Brayden Walker led Decatur with 8 points. Wyatt Smith added 7.

Danville 64, Colbert Heights 41

The Hawks earned a big Class 3A, Area 15 win in Tuscumbia over Colbert Heights on Thursday.

AJ Holladay led Danville with 21 points. Huntley Segars scored 12 and Ben Ellenburg added 10 points in the win.

MOBILE/COASTAL ALABAMA

McGill-Toolen 54, Baldwin County 44

The Class 6A No. 8 Yellow Jackets overcame a sluggish shooting start to pick up an Area 2 win on the road at Baldwin County in Bay Minette on Tuesday.

Ethan Stokes scored 6 of his 10 points in the third quarter and he finished with 15 rebounds for McGill-Toolen.

The Yellow Jackets led 36-32 headed into the final period. Leading 40-38 with 5:15 left in the game, Jack Murphy scored 7 straight points on a 3-pointer, steal and a layup and a pair of free throws. Zach Patrick’s traditional 3-point play pushed the lead to 50-40.

McGill-Toolen led 8-7 after the first quarter, hitting 3-of-17 shots.

It didn’t start well for the Jackets, who managed an 8-7 first-quarter lead, despite shooting just 3 of 17 shooting. Owen Norwood scored all 7 of his points in the first half to take the Jackets into half at 21-17.

McGill (15-5, 2-0) travels to Spanish Fort on Friday.

Javion Bolar led Baldwin County with 14 points.

Vigor 83, Citronelle 54

Jordan Clark scored 16 points and P.J. Holley had 14 as the Wolves improved to 16-5 overall.

Daydric Bush chipped in 9 points.

“Our guys came out very aggressive and shot the ball really well,” coach Jairus Jackson said. “It was a great team effort last night.”

Baker 84, Alma Bryant 26

The Class 7A Hornets raced to a 37-2 first-quarter lead at home on Tuesday. Baker led 54-17 at the half and 77-20 headed into the fourth quarter.

Derrick Florence led Baker (15-6) with 21 points as the Hornets improved to 2-0 in Area 1 play. Dashawn Thomas scored 18 and Desmond Williams added 11.

DJ Broughton scored 24 points to lead all scorers for fourth-ranked Class 7A Mary G. Montgomery (18-2). Zion Hunter followed with 9.

The Vikings had two players out due to illness. MGM hosts Baker on Friday.

Theodore 61, Blount 60

Houston Cunningham scored 18 points and Walter Cobb 11 as Theodore knocked off Blount in a Class 6A, Area 1 game.

The Bobcats (12-10, 3-0) also got 10 points from JJ Bush. Jayden Beck had 16 to lead Blount.

Theodore will host Saraland on Friday.

Williamson 67, Elberta 25

Corien Coleman and Johnathan Johnson had 15 points each as Williamson rolled to a 5A, Area 1 win. The Lions (15-5, 2-0) also got 9 points, 4 assists and 3 steals from A.J. Porter.

Williamson hosts B.C. Rain on Friday.

Fairhope 61, Cottage Hill 55

McRae Taul had 17 points and 9 rebounds as Fairhope bounced back from last week’s loss to Mary G. Montgomery.

Alabama commit Spence Sims did not play, but Zeb Gafford returned and contributed 8 points and 4 rebounds.

Jackson Gulley scored 13 and Jackson Robertson scored 6 and took four charges.

The Pirates (16-4) will open 7A, Area 2 play at Foley on Friday.

Bayshore Christian 62, Fruitdale 36

Sophomore Bobby Bynum led all scorers with 26 points for the Eagles.

Junior Jackson Bowman followed with 11 points and Sophomore Milo Scott added 9.

Jackson 63, T.R. Miller 28

Micah Caster had 16 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds as Jackson improved to 14-2 overall.

Nasir Powell had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while William Joseph Taylor had 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Aggies play Satsuma on Friday.

Patrician 67, Jackson Academy 33

Dalton Bracknell scored 13 points and Carson Coody added 12 as Patrician improved to 12-1 overall. Patrician led 54-15 at the half.

Chickasaw 64, Washington County 49

The Chieftains improved to 13-5 with the win.

Sydrus Gilmore had 19 points and 7 steals. Jamarion Osborne had 14 points and 6 rebounds and Marvin Brooks chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Georgiana 77, J.F. Shields 60

The second-ranked Class 1A Panthers rolled to the Area 3 win on the road on Tuesday.

Nasir Cheatham and Kaveon Miles registered double-doubles for Georgiana (13-2, 3-0). Cheatham scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. He also had 5 steals and 5 assists. Miles scored 11 points with 11 rebounds and 5 assists.

Jacobie Morgan scored 14 with 9 assists and 3 blocks. Quan Scott scored 11 points and had 5 steals.

Montgomery Academy 64, Providence Christian 44

Montgomery Academy pulled away with a 33-18 second half to earn the win at home on Tuesday. The Eagles are 14-6.

Skyler Stovall recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. He also had 4 steals and 3 assists. Cole Caddell scored 15 points with 7 rebounds. Jarrett Friendly scored 13 points with 8 rebounds and 2 steals. DJ Vinson hauled down 15 rebounds and made 4 steals with 2 assists. Seth Edwards grabbed 10 rebounds.

MA plays at St. James in a Class 3A, Area 6 game.

Evangel Christian 60, Coosa Valley 26

Tylon Shine scored 15 points to lead Evangel Christian to its first area win over Coosa Valley on Thursday. Will McCord scored 14 in the win and Jordan Duncan added 11.

The Lions improved to 9-7 on the season and 1-0 in area play.

On Tuesday, the Lions beat Eastwood Christian 55-20. Jamar Nickerson scored 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Shine finished with 9 points.

On Monday, Evangel edged Autauga Academy 63-57 in two overtimes. Shine led the winners with 15 points. Desi Stovall finished with a double-double, scoring 12 points and claiming 11 rebounds.

The Lions’ Friday game against Cornerstone Christian has been rescheduled to Jan. 26. Evangel’s next game is Jan. 18 at home against Coosa Valley.

Prattville Christian 77, BTW Magnet 46

Cade Segars tossed in 24 points and claimed 8 rebounds as Prattville Christian took the Class 4A, Area 5 win at Booker T. Washington Magnet in Montgomery on Tuesday.

Justin Chapman scored 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Collier Connell also scored 17 in the win. PJ Evans had a double-double with 12 points, 14 assists, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Brady Roberson had 8 rebounds.

PCA (10-11) will host Dallas County on Friday.

Northridge 50, Central-Tuscaloosa 35

The fifth-ranked Jaguars picked up the Class 6A, Area 6 win at home on Tuesday to improve to 19-2 on the season.

Jordan Suiter led the winners with 14 points. John Walker had 12 for Northridge.

Javion Taylor scored 12 points and claimed 6 rebounds for Central. King Larkin finished with 9 points and 5 rebounds.

Lakeside 64, Crenshaw Christian 46

James Curry led the Chiefs with 24 points in the win over Crenshaw Christian on Thursday. Curry also had 7 rebounds with 5 steals.

Rhodes Bennett had a double-double in the win with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Damien Modine scored 14 points with 4 assists and 3 steals.

Springwood 56, Valiant Cross 55

Despite a 27-point, 15-rebound effort from Deshawn Hall, Valiant Cross fell at home on Wednesday to No. 5 Springwood.

Brantley 54, Kinston 43

The Bulldogs earned the Class 1A, Area 2 win at Kinston on Thursday.

Jayden Parks poured in 34 points with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Dylan Davis had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Florala 57, Brantley 42

Florala rolled to the home Class 1A, Area 2 win on Tuesday.

Jayden Parks scored 25 points with 5 rebounds and 4 steals for Brantley. Dylan Davis notched a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds for Brantley (8-6).
