Aaron Rodgers on Pat McAfee: Game is better with Nick Saban, Bill Belichick in it

Aaron Rodgers, despite reports, isn’t done with “The Pat McAfee Show.”

The New York Jets quarterback appeared on the ESPN show Thursday and shared his thoughts on Alabama’s Nick Saban announcing his retirement on Wednesday.

“I’ve enjoyed watching him this year on your show,” Rodgers said. “Kudos to Nick on a hall-of-fame career. The players, young men he has impacted has been exponential.”

Rodgers reflected on Saban but also Bill Belichick parting ways with the New England Patriots, calling both coaches “iconic.”

“Very few people really move the game forward, coaches and players, but when you are talking about people who actually made a difference in the game and moved the game forward and were trailblazers, Bill Belichick and Nick Saban are those guys,” he explained.

The quarterback shared a story where he interviewed with Nick Saban in 2005 when he was at Cal, and Saban was the coach of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins. “We, obviously, went our own ways after that and he had incredible success.”

He added: “The game is better – college or pro – when those guys (Saban and Belichick) are in it.”
