Slaying of Birmingham man caught in crossfire outside nightclub remains unsolved; police seek help
It’s been nearly nine months since a 25-year-old Birmingham man was killed when he was caught in crossfire outside a nightclub, and no arrests have been made in his slaying.
Birmingham police are asking for the public’s help in bringing justice in the slaying Ryan Colby Johnson.
It was shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, April 23, that off-duty police officer security at working off-duty at Empire nightclub in the 100 block of Third Avenue heard shots fired and went to investigate.
The officer found Johnson outside of a vehicle. He had been shot and was unresponsive.
Johnson was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:39 a.m.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald said a group of males were involved in an argument that led to shots fired in the roadway.
Johnson was an innocent bystander who was caught in the crossfire.
