Thanks, Nick Saban. What poor slob could possibly follow the GOAT? Bill Belichick?

Thanks, Nick Saban. What poor slob could possibly follow the GOAT? Bill Belichick?

This is an opinion cartoon.

Nick Saban retires after 17 glorious years as Alabama’s head football coach. That was fun, but I feel sorry for the poor slob who tries to follow the GOAT.

Speaking of slobs, Saban’s buddy Bill Belichick is suddenly available and looking for work. The former Patriots coach has enjoyed a good long run in the NFL – thanks to Tom Brady – but he may be past his prime. Speaking of prime, how about Saban’s AFLAC litter mate, Coach Prime Time? Reckon Deion Sanders wants to slide into Saban’s job? That would be just ducky.

I have nothing but love and respect for Coach Saban. He made his mark and is leaving behind many fabulous football memories to appreciate for years to come. And he created lots of value for his players, the University of Alabama, the city of Tuscaloosa and our whole state.

It was all part of the process. Thank you, GOAT Saban.
