What’s next for Ryan Williams ahead of Feb. 9 decision?

Saraland 5-star wide receiver and longtime Alabama commit Ryan Williams admits it’s been a “fast-paced” few weeks.

In an interview on Sports Talk 99.5 FM in Mobile on Tuesday, the now two-time Gatorade Alabama Player of the Year said he has been enjoying the ride which has included appearances in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic and the Under Armour All-America Game since the Spartans’ season concluded.

“I’ve just been taking it all in,” said Williams, who announced in early December that he was reclassifying into the Class of 2024.

Of course, the question everyone wants to know is what is next for Williams?

His final recruiting calendar appears to be set. His visits are as scheduled:

Alabama: Jan. 20

Texas: Jan. 27

Auburn: Feb. 2

“I’m just taking these final official visits and wanting to make sure that I’m making the right decision while still enjoying the process,” he said. “You only get to do this once. So, I’m fully enjoying it and, whenever it’s time to sign, it’s time to lock in with my school.”

Williams plans to sign on his 17th birthday, Feb. 9. He has been committed to Alabama since Oc. 8, 2022, but other schools including Auburn and Texas have ramped up efforts to sway him.

He said Tuesday he still feels “pretty good” about his commitment to Alabama.

“I’m just waiting on word of who the new receivers coach will be,” he said. “I’ll feel a lot better after that, but I’m locked in and still feeling good.”

Alabama coach Nick Saban is looking to replace wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins, who is joining Mike Elko’s first staff at Texas A&M.

“He’s been recruiting me for two years,” Williams said. “It’s definitely a big loss I feel like.”

After his reclassification announcement, Williams jumped to No. 1 on AL.com’s A-List of top senior prospects in the state. He is No. 2 on the 247 composite rankings and On3 industry rankings of the top seniors in the state behind Auburn signee Cam Coleman of Central-Phenix City.

Williams will be in Montgomery on Tuesday for the Alabama Sports Writers Association Player of the Year Banquet. He is one of three finalists for Class 6A Back of the Year along with teammate KJ Lacey and Alabama signee and Clay-Chalkville star Jaylen Mbakwe.

Williams is the reigning 6A Back of the Year and the reigning Mr. Football in the state.
