CFP: Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter, Travis Scott, Stephen A. Smith share box suite; Herbstreit reacts

The College Football Playoff national championship between No. 1 Michigan and No. 2 Washington was the place to be Monday night.

In fact, Kirk Herbstreit called a specific box suite at Houston’s NRG Stadium the “box to be in.”

That’s because former NBA great Michael Jordan, former New York Yankees Hall of Famer Derek Jeter, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith and singer/songwriter Travis Scott were all hanging out during the CFP in Houston.

The Internet noticed.

ESPN’s Chris Fowler called the box suite “the place to be.”

Jordan’s Jumpman brand has been part of the Michigan program for years now. Jeter was sporting a Michigan sweatshirt, too.

In 2016, Michigan signed a 15-year, $174 million contract with Nike and Jordan Brand. The historic deal made the Wolverines the first football team to wear Jumpman apparel and footwear. Since then, nine other schools have followed suit.

Jeter earned a baseball scholarship to attend and play for Michigan.

They weren’t the only celebrities in attendance. Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, the brother of Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, surprised the Wolverines coach on the sideline with a hug during the first half.
