Alabama defensive coordinator Kevin Steele to retire, per report
Alabama defensive coordinator Kevin Steele will retire, according to a report from ESPN’s Chris Low.
Steele will be 66 in March. Steele coached for nearly 44 years, including three stints with Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa. Steele was also the defensive coordinator at LSU, Auburn and Miami.
Steele, from Dillon, South Carolina, graduated from Tennessee in 1981. He ended his playing career and started his coaching turn with the Volunteers, working his way up from assistant to outside linebackers coach. Steele was on Nick Saban’s first staff with the Tide in 2007.
