An investigation is underway after a woman was found dead Sunday evening in Montgomery.

Montgomery police Sgt. Tina McGriff said police and fire medics responded at 6:20 p.m. to the 2800 block of South Court Street on a report of a person shot.

Vernica Searcy, 33, was pronounced dead on the scene.

McGriff said the circumstances of Searcy’s death remain under investigation. No other details were released.
