South Alabama’s Jaden Voisin withdraws from portal
South Alabama safety Jaden Voisin has withdrawn from the transfer portal and will return to the Jaguars for his final season of eligibility, he announced Monday.
Voisin was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference pick in 2023, when he totaled 71 tackles, seven pass breakups and a team-best four interceptions. He reportedly visited West Virginia and Mississippi State and had interest from Florida and Vanderbilt before ultimately electing to return to Mobile.
Voisin’s return is a big boost for a South Alabama defense that lost starting Rover safety Jalen Jordan to graduation and starting cornerback Marquise Robinson to Arkansas via the transfer portal. Yam Banks, the Jaguars’ starting Husky (nickel) safety, is also in the transfer portal, but has not announced his plans for 2024.
Voisin’s twin brother, Devin, is a starting wide receiver for the Jaguars. He suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 2 of 2023 vs. Southeastern Louisiana, but is expected to make a full recovery for 2024.
South Alabama finished 7-6 in 2023, its second straight winning season. The Jaguars beat Eastern Michigan 59-10 in the 68 Ventures Bowl, the first postseason win in program history.
