A 26-year-old has been identified as a man killed in a Fairfield shooting on Saturday.

Kenneth Dewayne Smith Jr. lived in Pell City, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Just before 5 p.m., Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to what was initially reported as a traffic crash in the 800 block of Beacon Drive.

Sheriff’s Lt. Joni Money said deputies located a Jeep Cherokee that had struck a home.

Further investigation showed Smith had been shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:16 p.m.

No arrests have been made.
