Jail worker accused of sexual misconduct with DeKalb County inmate seeks youthful offender status

A hearing is set for Feb. 10 to determine if a woman accused of having sexual contact with an inmate at the DeKalb County Detention Center should be granted youthful offender status.

Taylor Marie McBryar, 21, of Fort Payne, is accused of custodial sexual contact. She is currently free on $15,000 bond.

According to court documents, the incident happened in August of 2022 when McBryar worked at the jail. She is accused of fondling a male inmate while the inmate did likewise and kissed her.

McBryar applied for youthful offender status on Jan. 5, as she was under 21 years old when the offense allegedly took place.

As a youthful offender, McBryar could receive up to three years probation and a suspended sentence, as well as avoid having the offense show up on her criminal record.
