Former Troy DE T.J. Jackson headed to Big 12 school
Former Troy defensive end T.J. Jackson is headed to West Virginia, he announced Friday.
Jackson was suspended for the first three games of the 2023 season, but finished with 27 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 10 games. The Millbrook native was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference pick in 2022, when he totaled 55 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks.
Jackson (6-foot-1, 275 pounds) has one season of eligibility remaining, plus a redshirt year. At West Virginia, he’ll play for former Troy head coach Neal Brown and defensive coordinator Jordan Lesley.
Jackson was among three former Troy players who announced transfer plans on Friday, along with linebacker Jayden McDonald (Indiana) and wide receiver Jabre Barber (Texas A&M). Safety Caleb Ransaw and offensive tackle Derrick Graham have also entered the transfer portal, but remain undecided on their destinations.
Troy went 11-3 in 2023, winning its second straight Sun Belt Conference title. The Trojans ended their season with a 17-10 loss to Duke in the Birmingham Bowl.
