Auburn defensive tackle Marcus Harris accepts Senior Bowl invitation
Auburn defense tackle Marcus Harris will participate in the Senior Bowl, set to be played on Feb. 3 in Mobile, Alabama, the Senior Bowl announced on Friday.
Harris will be one of four Auburn players currently set to partake in the important preparation for the 2024 NFL Draft, joining defensive backs Nehemiah Pritchett, DJ James and Jaylin Simpson.
The four Auburn players in the game are the most since there were five Tigers in Mobile in 2018.
Former Auburn quarterback Bo Nix will play in the game, too.
Harris previously announced his intentions to enter the 2024 NFL Draft and opted out of the Music City Bowl as a result. Harris traveled with the team to Nashville for the Dec. 30 game and helped coach the new group of young defensive linemen to take his spot.
Harris was Auburn’s best player on the defensive front this season. From an interior position, Harris led Auburn in sacks with seven and tackles for loss with 11.
His performance earned him a first-team AP All-SEC selection.
Filling his position has proved to be a challenge for Auburn, whether it be young, inexperienced players like Bobby Jamison-Travis or DJ Reed, or pursuing players out of the transfer portal like Kansas transfer Gage Keys.
Harris’ younger brother Malik Blocton, a defensive lineman, is signed with Auburn and already practicing with the team.
Auburn has continued to pursue depth on the defensive line out of the transfer portal with Texas A&M defensive line transfer Isaiah Raikes taking an official visit to Auburn this week.
