Reports: Jax State DC Zac Alley likely headed to Oklahoma

Jacksonville State defensive coordinator Zac Alley is expected to leave and take the same job at Oklahoma, according to multiple reports.

Alley, 29, helped the Gamecocks to a 9-3 record and New Orleans Bowl victory in 2023. He spent two seasons at Jax State after working with head coach Rich Rodriguez on the Louisiana-Monroe staff in 2021.

At Oklahoma, Alley will be reunited with head coach Brent Venables, under whom he worked at Clemson. The Sooners — who join the SEC next season — fired defensive coordinator Ted Roof on Thursday.

Alley was a student assistant and then a graduate assistant for three seasons each at Clemson under Venables, who was then the Tigers’ defensive coordinator. Alley then spent two seasons (2019-2020) on Bryan Harsin’s Boise State staff, first as inside linebackers coach and then as outside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator.
