2 pedestrians intentionally struck in Birmingham parking lot, police say

An investigation is underway after two men were hit by a vehicle in east Birmingham Thursday afternoon.

It is believed, police said, is that the victims were intentionally struck.

The crash happened about 2 p.m. in a business parking lot in the 5900 block of First Avenue North.

Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said the preliminary investigation suggests that victims were struck intentionally by the driver of the vehicle.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Battalion Chief Clay Hendon said both pedestrians and the driver were all taken to the hospital by ambulance.

One of the pedestrians, Hendon said, sustained serious injuries. The other pedestrian and the driver have minor injuries.

A motive in the incident has not yet been determined.

Wade said the investigation is ongoing.
