Retired businessman Larry Simpson wants to prioritize the elderly in District 2 congressional race

Retired CEO of Motion City Merchandise Marketing and Mobile native Larry Darnell Simpson believes his activism for veterans and the elderly makes him the best candidate for the recently redrawn 2nd Congressional District.

“I believe that I could do something for the people. I understand their grievances,” said the 66-year-old Simpson. He believes living in Mobile is an advantage and imperative for this race.

Simpson decided to run because he felt communities like the elderly were being neglected, particularly with food and legal assistance.

“I felt that I could do a better job,” he said. The main issues of his platform are improving waterway infrastructure, housing, and healthcare. He’s also concerned about minority participation in federal jobs and rural communities’ broadband access and water system.

Simpson currently conducts legal research and helps others deal with “constitutional issues in terms of due process and equal protection of the law.”
