The Huntsville area can claim some of the best of the best in Alabama high school girls basketball. Hazel Green, of course, has won six straight Class 6A state championships. Sparkman was runner-up last season in Class 7A, Arab was second in 5A, Priceville was 4A runner-up and Clements took second in 3A.

This season, Hazel Green is No. 1 in 6A and Bob Jones is atop the 7A Alabama Sports Writers Association poll with Sparkman right behind.
