A young boy drowned in Lake Martin over the New Year’s holiday.

Tallapoosa County Coroner Mike Knox said it appears the 3-year-old slipped out of a residence.

His body was recovered from the lake in the Bay Pines area.

The incident happened on Saturday, Dec. 30, near Wrong Road, Knox said.

His body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsy.

The Alexander City Police Department investigated the disappearance.

Efforts to reach police officials for additional information were unsuccessful.
