Danny Kanell trolls Alabama with one-word message

Danny Kanell wasted little time trolling Alabama moments after the No. 4 Crimson Tide fell to No. 1 Michigan in the College Football Playoff semifinals at the Rose Bowl on Saturday night.

The college football analyst – and former Florida State quarterback – has been a vocal critic of undefeated ACC champion Florida State being left out of the CFP.

On Monday night, moments after Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe was stopped on fourth and 3 from the 3 by Michigan, Kannel threw shade at the Crimson Tide on social media.

“LANK?” Kanell posted on “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Blake Corum rushed for a 17-yard touchdown on the second snap of overtime, and top-seeded Michigan advanced to its first College Football Playoff championship game with a 27-20 victory over fourth-seeded Alabama in the Rose Bowl.

Michigan’s defense ended only the second overtime game in the 110 editions of the Rose Bowl when Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe was emphatically stopped for no gain when he attempted to sneak up the middle on fourth down from the Michigan 3.

Coach Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines will play for their school’s first national title since 1997 against Washington or Texas on Jan. 8 in Houston.

For Kanell, it has been as much about Alabama not belonging as it has about the Seminoles’ inclusion.

He made the point after Alabama’s early-season loss to Texas to point out the Crimson Tide’s days of “dominating are done.” Following Alabama’s fourth-and-31, last-second win against Auburn in the Iron Bowl, he declared Georgia was “gonna boat race Bama” in the SEC Championship Game.

Then, of course, last month, he declared Florida State earned the right to play in the CFP, adding the best teams don’t lose.
