Some snowflakes spotted overnight in Alabama

As expected there wasn’t much snow to speak of across Alabama overnight and into Saturday morning.

Some areas got lucky, however. Social media had some reports of a dusting of snow in parts of northeast Alabama.

Snow flurries have been reported in other areas as far south as the Birmingham metro area.

So far the National Weather Service has not gotten any reports of slick spots on roads, but they still could be out there.

Highs on Saturday will warm enough to melt anything frozen, but they will not be balmy by any means.

Highs are expected to stay in the 40s in north and central Alabama. South Alabama could make it into the 50s (see the forecast highs at the top of this post).

Expect any flurries to come to an end later this morning. The sun was already out in south Alabama, and more of central and north Alabama could see it later this afternoon, according to weather service forecasts.

A cold night is in store for Alabama, with overnight lows projected to fall into the 20s and 30s statewide.
