Former Alabama prep QB ready to play again for Bengals

As Cincinnati tries to stay in the AFC playoff race, the Bengals will have cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt back on the field against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

The former Park Crossing High School standout has missed the past five games because of an ankle injury. After Taylor-Britt missed a 16-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Nov. 26, Cincinnati placed him on injured reserve, which required him to miss four more games.

Taylor-Britt returned to practice on Wednesday, and the Bengals restored him to their 53-player active roster on Friday.

A second-round draft choice from Nebraska in 2022, Taylor-Britt had started the first 10 games of his second NFL season when he got hurt.

Before going out, Taylor-Britt intercepted four passes, including one that he returned 11 yards for a touchdown in a 34-20 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 8. Only four NFL players have more interceptions this season than Taylor-Britt, despite the missed time.

At 8-7, the Bengals are 10th in the race for the AFC playoffs, which will feature seven teams. The three teams immediately ahead of Cincinnati also have 8-7 records.

After playing the Chiefs at 3:25 p.m. CST Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, the Bengals will close their regular-season schedule with a home game against the Cleveland Browns on Jan. 7.

In his final season at Park Crossing in Montgomery, Taylor-Britt passed for 1,466 yards and 16 touchdowns and ran for 1,030 yards and 14 touchdowns to earn All-State recognition as the Thunderbirds quarterback. He made the transition to defensive back at Nebraska.
