A drive-by shooting in Midfield left a young man dead.

The deadly shooting happened just before 2 p.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of Griffin Drive.

Police Chief Jesse Bell said the victim was sitting inside a vehicle outside a friend’s house when another vehicle drove by and opened fire. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities are withholding his name pending notification of his family, but Bell said he was 22 years old and possibly lived in Adamsville.

A motive has not yet been disclosed, and no arrests have been made. The chief said he believes the victim was targeted.
