Birmingham mother sentenced to 90 years in prison for shooting death of 21-year-old son

A Birmingham mother has been sentenced to prison for the 2020 shooting death of her adult son.

Jefferson County Circuit Judge Shanta Craig Owens on Wednesday sentenced 48-year-old Micia Sharika Gamble to 90 years in prison.

Gamble was given the opportunity to make a statement to the court before sentencing but declined.

Gamble was convicted in November of murder in the killing of 21-year-old Tim’Darius Gamble.

Her boyfriend, 62-year-old Gregory Peck, pleaded guilty to the same charge in 2021 and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Birmingham police responded just after 8 p.m. that Monday, April 13, 2020, to the residence at 716 Avenue H in Pratt City.

When they arrived at the home, they found Tim’Darius Gamble in the back yard by a vehicle. He was unresponsive and pronounced dead on the scene.

Assistant District Attorneys Sarah Beth Eldridge and Nick Taggart prosecuted the case. Gamble was defended by attorney Jaqueline Morrette.

A man was shot to death Monday, April 13, 2020 in the back yard of a Pratt City home.
