South Alabama safety Jaden Voisin announced on Sunday that he’s entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Voisin, a first-team All-Sun Belt pick in 2023, has one season of eligibility remaining. The news comes one day after the Jaguars beat Eastern Michigan 59-10 in the 68 Ventures Bowl to cap a 7-6 season.

Voisin signed with South Alabama in 2019 out of Crestview, Fla., High School, and became a starter during the 2022 season. He finished with 80 tackles and two interceptions that year, then had 71 stops, seven pass breakups and a team-best four pickoffs in 2023.

Voisin’s twin brother, Devin, is a starting wide receiver for the Jaguars. He suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 2 vs. Southeastern Louisiana, but is expected to make a full recovery for 2024.

Voisin is the third South Alabama starter to announce plans to enter the portal since the end of the regular season. All-Sun Belt wide receiver Caullin Lacy has already transferred to Louisville, while offensive guard Dontae Lucas announced last week he would play his final season elsewhere.

With Voisin’s departure, South Alabama will have to replace at least two of its three starting safeties — and possibly all three — in 2024. First-team Rover Jalen Jordan is a senior with no remaining eligibility, while starting Husky (nickel) safety Yam Banks has flirted with the idea of turning pro.

The Jaguars have a number of younger safeties on the team who played extensively in 2023, including juniors Mike Harris and Rickey Hyatt, sophomore Christopher Wallace and redshirt freshman Wesley Miller. South Alabama signed two safeties in its 2024 recruiting class, Ty Goodwill of Faith Academy and Amarion Fortenberry of Columbia, Miss.
