Congress, teddy-bear surprise, gone country: Down in Alabama

Congress, teddy-bear surprise, gone country: Down in Alabama

From today’s Down in Alabama podcast:

A lot of people in Alabama, and the South, like to play up their country side a bit.

Even if the closest they’ve come to a farm is their grad-school roommate’s little organic flower bed.

It’s common to see occasional camo in Avondale and pickup trucks double-parked in Mountain Brook Village.

Whether or not there’s a pig in the poke, most of us have at least some kind of rural roots.

Well, now, some people in Alabama have gone rural, as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau, just by staying right where they are. We’ll talk about the reclassification of some Alabama towns on today’s podcast episode.

Also, we have some some Congressional politics and a woman who found much more than she expected inside a tossed-out teddy bear.
