Girl, 8, dies after being struck by vehicle at Tuscaloosa County mobile home park; driver detained
An 8-year-old girl died after she was struck by a vehicle at a Tuscaloosa County mobile home park early Wednesday evening, authorities said Thursday.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 6000 block of Spring Drive in Cottondale around 5 p.m. Wednesday, said Capt. Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa County Violent Crimes Unit.
The girl was struck by a vehicle inside a mobile home park.
She was taken to a local hospital, where she died, Kennedy said.
Deputies detained the driver, although the driver has not yet been arrested. The driver is also not suspected of being impaired by drugs or alcohol, according to Kennedy.
The case remained under investigation Thursday.
Witnesses to the incident were asked to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 205-464-8690.
