Marlon Humphrey names top 5 Alabama teammates in NFL

Most Sundays in the NFL, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey competes against an opposing team with other Alabama alumni. It’s not unusual for Humphrey to be on the other side of the field from a former Crimson Tide teammate either, since 60 other players during his three seasons at Alabama also have played in the NFL.

During his “Punch Line” podcast this week, Humphrey was asked to name the top five Alabama teammates that he’s played against in the NFL.

Humphrey chose Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley and offensive tackle Cam Robinson.

“I think I have to put Derrick Henry at one,” Humphrey said. “This is played with? Coop. Technically, I don’t play against this guy, but he’s just a baller and makes plays against my team, so I’ve got to put Minkah at three. I’ll put Calvin at four. And then lastly, I’ll put Big Cam.

“I threw Big Cam in there because of what he did to us rookie year in London. They ran all over us, threw all over us, Blake Bortles (at quarterback) – come on. Coop, I mean, nice. Derrick, what he did to us COVID year when we were up. He maybe had like 30 yards rushing, ended the game with like 100-plus. Gamed us in overtime, I believe, at home. Calvin what he did freaking (Sunday) night and just a good player. I only went against him once, I think, in Atlanta. And Minkah just because he’s a try-hard.

“He was a try-hard at Bama. Met with (coach Nick) Saban personally. Made me look bad. He was a student of the game. I was just hanging out partying. He was doing all his schoolwork and his football, so, yeah. Minkah’s still my guy, but that dude was locked in in college. Like, enjoy yourself a little bit. But he did what he did. He went first round.”

When the Ravens play the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night, the former Hoover High School star will face an NFL team that does not have an Alabama alumnus on its active roster. San Francisco’s only former Crimson Tide player, rookie tight end Cameron Latu, is on injured reserve.
