Inked: 4-star Benjamin Russell WR Malcolm Simmons signs with Auburn

Four-star Benjamin Russell wide receiver Malcolm Simmons has signed with Auburn during Wednesday’s National Signing Day, Auburn confirmed in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Simmons originally committed to Auburn on July 29, and took his official visit during the Iron Bowl. He was in the stands that day with other members of Auburn’s elite incoming receiver class including 5-star commit Perry Thompson, four-star receiver Cam Coleman who would later flip from Texas A&M to Auburn as well as four-star receiver Bryce Cain.

In a Dec. 18 update, Simmons jumped up from the 424th overall player in the country to 157th.

Simmons had 60 catches for 1,279 yards and 14 touchdowns in the 2023 season, according to the statistics posted on MaxPreps.

Simmons’ commitment came during Auburn’s Big Cat Weekend recruiting event. Thompson committed to Auburn the same weekend.

Arkansas was Simmons’ only other SEC offer. West Virginia, Georgia Tech and Troy also pursued the Alexander City product, just under an hour’s drive away from Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Auburn’s recruiting class entered National Signing Day ranked as the 11th best overall group in the nation.
