Julian Sayin, top QB in 2024 recruiting class, signs with Alabama

It’s official. Alabama football has signed the top quarterback in the class of 2024.

Julian Sayin put pen to paper on Tuesday, the first day of the early signing period for 2024 prospects, sending his national letter of intent to the Crimson Tide. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Sayin is the No. 1 quarterback in his class, and the No. 5 player overall.

The Carlsbad, Calif. native has already joined Alabama for practices ahead of UA’s Jan. 1 appearance in the College Football Playoff’s Rose Bowl semifinal. He earned rave reviews from the Crimson Tide’s starting QB Jalen Milroe.

“I’ve been in his shoes, being a freshman coming into college,” Milroe said Tuesday. “All I can try to do is give him the information that I’ve gotten and really allow him to be a sponge with all the information that I have and just be a good teammate for him. With him, he spins the ball really well. It’s been really good to have him in the room, to have another guy in the room. With everything, just appreciative to have another brother in the room. He’s doing a really good job practicing. He’s a good dude.”

Sayin chose the Crimson Tide over offers from Georgia and LSU among others. He committed to UA in November of 2022.

He was one of two five-star prospects expected to sign with the Crimson Tide on Tuesday when the early period began. The other was Jaylen Mbakwe, from Clay-Chalkville.

Sayin will likely have to sit for at least one season in Tuscaloosa, with Milroe already announcing he will return for the 2024 campaign. But if he finds his way onto the field, he could be ready to play.

“He’s a pure thrower and might be the most ready to step in and play early of all the signal callers in the ‘24 class,” 247Sports analyst Greg Biggins wrote of Sayin. “His football IQ is very high and he has an advanced feel for the position and understands how to throw with timing and anticipation.”
