Former Auburn WR Omari Kelly announces commitment to Middle Tennessee State

Former Auburn wide receiver Omari Kelly appears on his way to Middle Tennessee State, announcing his commitment with a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Kelly was the first of a handful of Auburn receivers to enter the transfer portal, announcing he would enter the portal on Dec. 1.

Since his entry, receivers Jyaire Shorter, Malcolm Johnson Jr. and Ja’Varrius Johnson all began seeking a new school in what is a total reset of Auburn’s wide receiver room.

On Dec. 10, former Auburn All-American player and analyst on the coaching staff since 2019 Kendall Simmons announced he would be leaving Auburn to take the offensive line coach job at Middle Tennessee State under new head coach Derek Mason. Mason was the defensive coordinator at Auburn in 2022.

During the 2023 season, Kelly appeared in just eight games and had two total catches for 45 yards.

He was a former 4-star recruit out of Hewitt-Trussville.
