Man found shot to death outside Birmingham building
A man was found shot to death Monday morning in Birmingham.
Birmingham police were dispatched at 7:17 a.m. to a report of a person down in the 300 block of Second Avenue North. A passerby made the discovery and called police.
Once on the scene, officers found an adult male unresponsive next to a commercial building, said Sgt. LaQuitta Wade.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced the man dead on the scene.
Wade said the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office arrived on the scene and determined the victim had been shot.
No arrests have been made.
The man is the city’s fourth homicide since Saturday, and the fifth in all of Jefferson County.
The victim is Birmingham’s 132nd homicide this year. Of those, one was an officer-involved shooting by an outside law enforcement agency and nine others have been ruled justified.
In all of Jefferson County, there have been 184 homicides, including the 132 in Birmingham.
