Rodney Scott’s BBQ closes Avondale restaurant, announces 4 new locations

Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ has closed its Avondale location as one in a series of moves the company has announced, including new locations to come in the Birmingham area.

The restaurant in Avondale closed Nov. 27, according to an announcement from the restaurant. Rodney Scott still has its Homewood location at 2701 18th St. S., and the Trussville restaurant at 312 Main St.

Scott, from South Carolina, opened his first restaurant in Charleston in 2017, in a partnership with Birmingham restaurateur Nick Pihakis. Scott opened the Birmingham location in 2019, at 3719 Third Ave. South in Avondale, in the former location of Saigon Noodle House and Bottletree Cafe.

The other two locations in the Birmingham area followed, all in a partnership with Pihakis.

According to the company, a Nashville restaurant, in collaboration with AJ Capital, will open in Eric Church’s mega-entertainment club, Chiefs, in early 2024.

In addition, new locations are being designed for Hoover, the Valley Post development in Shelby County, and Miami. The Valley Post in Chelsea is a project planned for Dunnavant Valley Road with several dining options.

The Pihakis Restaurant Group is expected to announce a new tenant for the old Rodney Scott Avondale property soon as well.
