Burglary inmate escapes from Montgomery job site, search underway

A search is underway after a state inmate convicted of burglary escaped from his job assignment Tuesday afternoon in Montgomery.

Linwood Harris, 53, who is serving a 15-year-sentence for third-degree burglary out of Russell County, left the site of a Montgmery-area paint and body shop, the Alabama Department of Corrections told WSFA.

Harris was reported as escaped around 5:25 p.m.

The inmate, described as 5-feet-11, 175 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, may be driving a silver 2007 Infiniti G35, ADOC told the station.

Harris was last seen wearing brown pants, a black Maaco shirt and a blue hat, the agency said.

Anyone with information on the inmate’s whereabouts was asked to call Staton Communications at 800-831-8825.
