Armed and dangerous murder suspect loose, Monroe County sheriff warns

A manhunt is on for a man wanted for murder in Monroe County, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Dewayne Thomas, 47, is wanted for the murder of Kimberly Niccol Kidd. Sheriff Tom Boatwright said Thomas is to be considered armed and dangerous. He is described as a Black male, 5-11, 175 pounds, bald, with brown eyes.

Anyone with information on Thomas’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 251-575-4716 or 911.

Thomas’ extensive criminal history includes multiple arrests on weapons charges and drug possession.

Court records show that in 2001, he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman in Wilcox County, beating her with his fists and a sharp instrument, causing cuts which required stitches when he slammed her into a window, breaking the glass. He was sentenced to two years probation in that case.
